Best friends

I truly value my relationship with my friends.  I don’t have many “best friends”, but the ones that I do have are very, very dear to me.

I have been friends with Lisa for almost 30 years, we have been thru so much together (marriage, loss of loved ones, divorce etc).  We live on the opposite sides of the globe but not even oceans can keep us apart.  She is my other sister. I miss her dearly and I don’t think I tell her often enough how much she really means to me.

Ali, we’ve known one another since primary school, but, only became “best friends” about seven years ago.  We chat to one another almost every day, sometimes twice maybe three times a day.  We have to see each other at least once a week.  We are each other’s quick fix.  Ali is the friend I call when I am sad, happy or angry.  She is a good listener.  I love her dearly.

Yollie, we met thru work about seven years ago.  We have CSI to thank for our friendship ha, ha. I received a sms from her one eve “switch to M-Net” that gorgeous guy from CSI is on, and that was that, we were hooked as friends.  Yollie, is the most honest person I have ever met, the type of friend that tells you what you need to hear and not what you want to hear.  I adore her.  She is an awesome wife and mother.  The type of friend I will always look up to and respect. I wish we could spend more time together, but our lives seem so busy……………maybe too busy.

Hills, we met in primary school.  We were friends during primary school and part of high school but really became “best friends” when we went to college.  During our college years we partied a lot and we had the best times.  We have also been thru so much together.  She left for Canada shortly after we studied and it was then that I realised what a good friend she was.  I missed her dearly, it felt like a piece of me had been taken away.  It was while she was overseas that I realized I often took her friendship for granted, something that I will always regret.  She is kind, loving and gentle.  Unfortunately, we don’t live in the same town but we are lucky enough to see one another a few times a year. I miss her dearly.

Des, otherwise known as my little sister. She is a little younger than I am.  Growing up we were never really very close, I am not quite sure if it was the age gap or simply because I was a stubborn child. We grew closer when our dearest brother passed away.  I admire her dearly.  We are always there for one another.  We share secrets, make-up and at a time clothes too…………..but now that I am once again pregnant the clothing just doesn’t seem to fit.  She is a loving aunty to our children.  She is a spiritual child with plenty talents and gifts.  She too lives far away, but we try our best to see each as often as we possibly can.

A true friend is someone you can turn to in a time of need and she will always be there.  She is non judgmental and will accept you for who you are.

I am very fortunate to have such beautiful woman in my life and I count my blessings every day!
