Dinner with friends

Posted March 18th, 2010 by Leigh

Last night we went over to my friend Ali and Leon for a braai. It was not your usual bring and braai. Ali being the thoughtful friend that she is – said just bring yourselves and the kids. She made special food for the kids so that they could eat early and for the adults she made divine salads.
She obviously realized that I have my hands full at the mo with the kids, hubby and the business. So sweet of her.

We arrived and Leon happily fed Abigail for me as she had no interest in her mommy, she only wanted uncle Leon.

Barend arrived and we sat outside on the patio catching up – it was wonderful. I made the announcement that “tonight was my night”, meaning I am going to drink lots of wine and hubby will drive home. I had my first glass and whoop it went straight to my head, not wanting to make an ass of myself as the night was still young, I ate some bread as I realized I hadn’t eaten anything for the day. (and I wonder why I am totally bushedShayne I will take your advice and eat healthy – thanks EXMI for the recipes, please keep them coming).

Leon made marrow for starters, now just the thought of eating it or scooping it out of the bone makes me wanna “puke”, but the boys enjoyed it.

The men had huge T-bones and the ladies lovely steak. Some good old venison wors was available and I got stuck in, love game meat.

The vino flowed and so did my tongue, I am fairly out going and out spoken and with a couple of glasses of wine it is pretty difficult to keep me quiet.

I had such a fabulous evening, we ate – we drank – we were merry.

My hubby drove the kids home safely and tucked them into bed, while I climbed into bed and dozed off to dream land. Oh! I made sure I drank loads of water before climbing into bed.

I woke very churpy this morning, hmmm it was probably the “good vino” – “mommies time off” and “good company”

Thanks Ali, Leon and my hubby for such an awesome eve.

SOunds like just what the doc ordered! Good luck with the eating properly – try and eat lowgi breads to keep you sugar levels up – no white bread as they do no good for you. need more advice just mail me!
